Kehillath Shalom Synagogue's School has a new name and a new model!
New Name: Torah School Torah means "teaching," not just the first five books of the Bible: it's ALL of Jewish teaching, even that which we discover for ourselves today. Our New Model includes school on Shabbat, with monthly Sunday workshops and periodic Friday night gatherings. This structure will allow our children and families to be a full part of the synagogue cycle, experiencing Jewish life, not just learning about it. Shabbat classes will meet from 10 – 12:45, allowing for children to have class time, participate in services, and have kiddush with the community – schmoozing and noshing are essential aspects of the Jewish experience! Parents can come to Torah Study from 10 – 11 and services from 11:15 – 12:30. While we understand that parents sometimes need this time to do other things, we hope that this model will enable you as well to partake in synagogue life as you are able.
