A Technology Update for KSS High Holidays 2020

9/16/2020

Dear KSS community,

Just a quick check in from your tech Gabbai (hey, it’s 2020 and this is a thing!)

Friday night begins our Rosh Hashanah services.
ALL the LINKS can be found at: MyKSS.org/HH
Just read carefully to find the right link.

We tried (we really did) to make everything one link; it just wasn’t doable. But everything you need can be found on that page, from the links for Zoom to the PDF of the Machzor.

On Friday, September 18 at noon, I’ll be available for tech consultation. We’re doing a practice run so, if you have concerns or questions (or just want to say Hi!) go to MyKSS.org/HH and click the link for "Communal Events and Services”.

On Friday night, we’ll see you for Erev Services at 7:30pm.

On Saturday morning at 10am, for those that want to schmooze and say hi, the “Lobby” will be available. There you can talk and interact with each other. This will be your chance to chat, because during services, everyone will be muted for the majority of the time.

Saturday at 10:30, we’ll begin Rosh Hashanah Services. You’ll begin in the waiting room. It would be most helpful if your full name (first and last) was on your Zoom account; this will help me to identify you and keep trolls away from our sacred celebrations. If you need help with this, try here, or join us on Friday at noon for the practice run. (See directions above)

One at a time you’ll be admitted to services. Please be patient – I have no idea how long this will take us (it’s our first time, too!) Once in Services, you’ll be muted. PLEASE STAY MUTED unless otherwise directed.
Note if you have an aliyah:  the Tech Gabbai – Deborah will send you a private chat letting you know when your speaking part is coming up, and follow up with a “request to unmute”. When it’s your turn, Rabbi Lina will call your name. YOU WILL HAVE TO UNMUTE YOURSELF. (Again, we tried to do this differently, but Zoom won’t let us – at least not at the time of typing this.)

Be mindful that different events throughout the day will require different Zoom links. All of it can be found at MyKSS.org/HH.

I know it’s a lot. I know it’s not what we all wanted. But we’re making the best of it, and we’ll get through it! Shana Tova! And I’ll see you on Zoom!

Yours,
Deborah
