It's BIRTHDAY TIME!

And not just for KSS! The Globi are celebrating birthdays, too, and in honor of their birthdays, Deborah and Howard Globus are sponsoring the kick-off for our Gala celebrations!

Join us for cake and champagne and the KSS family celebrating our 50th Anniversary year!

Services begin at 7:30pm on Friday night, February 1st, 2019. Afterwards, we'll share baked goods courtesy of Buttercooky Bakery, and a little champagne for good measure (probably served in plastic cups, because like the Globae, KSS is classy but still down to earth!)

A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder

KSS is going to the theater...Engeman Theater to be exact!  Join us on Sunday, March 17th for the 2:00pm Matinee of A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Money.

The details:
Sunday, March 17th
2pm matiness

at John Engeman Theater
Northport, NY

Tickets $85.00

Checks can be made out to Kehillath Shalom Synagogue.

RSVP by  Feb 20th to Marie Korn  at Lotussong1_AT_aol.com

Winner of the 2014 Tony Award for Best Musical, Gentleman’s Guide tells the uproarious story of Monty Navarro, an heir to a family fortune who sets out to jump the line of succession by—you guessed it—eliminating the eight pesky relatives who stand in his way. All the while, Monty has to juggle his mistress (she’s after more than just love), his fiancée (she’s his cousin but who’s keeping track?), and the constant threat of landing behind bars! Of course, it will all be worth it if he can slay his way to his inheritance… and be done in time for tea.

A Bag of Marbles

This free showing is presented by the Israel and Jewish Affairs Committee
at Kehillath Shalom Synagogue
58 Goose Hill Rd., Cold Spring Harbor NY 11724

The film will be introduced by Rachell Berkowitz whose husband Marcel, z’’l, was a 14 year old in France during the German Occupation and whose life parallels that of the boys in the story.
This is the true story of two young Jewish brothers in German occupied France who, with a mind-boggling mix of mischievousness, courage and ingenuity, will be forced to fend for themselves in order to survive the enemy invasion and try to bring their family back together. The heartwarming adaptation of Joseph Joffo’s enduring memoir tells the story of the Nazi occupation through the eyes of the two young Jewish boys.

Please RSVP to Judy Davis jdavis4727_AT_aol.com by February 8 so we know how many snacks to provide!

Another great weekend at KSS!
Picture
When Israel Was In Egypt Land, Let My People Go.
You can hear the great Paul Robeson sing these words - but the song ends before the text does. The text reads: שַׁלַּ֥ח עַמִּ֖י וְיַֽעַבְדֻֽנִי
Let My people go that they may serve Me.
Actually, וְיַֽעַבְדֻֽנִי could mean work, worship, or serve.
Whichever translation, it has meant different things in different generations. It’s up to us, in our generation, to define what it means to us and to our community.
