Sukkot Service and Dinner

Sukkot is known as "the season of our joy." After the hard work of repentance on Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur, we celebrate in the sukkah.

Join us as the holiday begins, with food, song and reflection. As we eat in our sukkah, we'll enact the ritual of ushpizin, inviting our holy ancestors to join us.

Please come with a story of a "holy ancestor" (your own, or someone who inspires you) to share!

Sunday, September 23 at 6 pm

RSVP to Rabbi Lina at rabbi_AT_kehillathshalomsynagogue.org

A Little Background

Sukkot has two mitzvot - waving the lulav and sitting in the sukkah.

Sitting in the sukkah, is generally interpreted as eating in the sukkah, although some even sleep in it!

While eating, there's a tradition of welcoming guests, ushpizin. Learn more about this practice here.  Traditional ushpizin are our ancestors - Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Aaron, Moses, David, Solomon, Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel, Leah, Miriam, Deborah, Ruth.
